GVT stands for German Volume Training.

You basically choose a basic exercise for each major group and aim for 10 sets of 10 reps with a certain amount of weight. Once you accomplish that, you raise weight by 5% or so until you can do 10 reps on your next set. And repeat.

I used it years ago and it was a simple, yet good method to train.

I still recommend it to folks just starting out at the gym.

Sorry Mario, a bit backed up with research … seems to be something worth to be tried.

German volume training

German Volume Training, commonly referred to as the “10×10 workout”, is a form of weight training. It employs high set counts and moderate repetitions. GVT workouts typically involve 10 sets of 10 repetitions focused on a specific muscle group. According to the Scandinavian Journal of Sports and Medicine, GVT is a mid-intensity workout.

I remember Bev Francis mentioning that she built her base around GVT. Simple and heavy usually works.
