Does Squat Depth Matter in the context of muscular Hypertrophy ?⭕️

Squats have always been a great lower body exercise.

The reason is simple: they’re versatile, meaning they allow for progressive overload, and they challenge many lower limb muscles at longer various lengths, across a wide range of motion (ROM).

According to a paper from 2019, it’s important to mention that *how low your squats are* matters as well, especially if you’re looking to maximize your b🍑🍑ty gains, and the adductors!

In fact, in a somewhat recent study [Kubo K. et al., study (2019)], full squats [ATG] showed significantly greater growth for the Glute Max & Adductors, which assist to extend the hip during deep hip and knee flexion.

Compared to “half squats” which were enough to stretch quadriceps and promote growth of the vastii relatively similarly, greater depths resulted to be much more hypertrophic for other synergistic muscles.

Based on the totality of research available, it may be a good idea to challenge muscles at longer lengths to promote superior hypertrophic results.

In practice, this study adds confirmation to an important fact: always keep your standards high and your squats low, to reap all the benefits!
