What actually causes muscle soreness following a workout ?⭕️

“DOMS” (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) has always been chased by many masochistic-personality lifters who enjoy “feeling” the effects of a workout days after.

Yet we have learned that often, excessive training volume and strenuously long workouts don’t correlate with being productive at the gym… especially if recovery takes up several days (depending on the severity of the session).

Interestingly enough, DOMS have always been attributed to the idea of muscle damage, yet, emerging research is pointing the finger more towards the nerve endings of the muscle spindles, as a primary cause for it.

Sure, Muscle Damage can still occur as a coinciding phenomenon, but it looks like it’s likely not a primary cause for the symptoms of DOMS.

Hope you enjoy the post!
