While navigating a fitness industry that focuses on optimizing every inch of every movement to squeeze-in every possible stimulus in the most optimally thought-out mechanics, remember that those tips are probably something that most people won’t need to worry about in the grand scheme of things, because it won’t be those “tricks” that *actually* will make you magically grow your muscles.

Here I present you the list of exercises that have grown, keep growing, and will grow (!!!) your lats–as long as performed long term, with some sort of progression in mind.

What are the exercises?

Same old stuff.

Pull ups (and their variations), Pull downs (and their variations), rows (with their variations).

You see– there isn’t a “specific trick” or “grip” or “best angle” to increase your lat gains. What matters is that you make sure you’re picking exercises that allow you to PROGRESS, while working on adduction and extension of the shoulders which will automatically recruit your lats.

Of course, specific exercises can “bias” an area more, but it will never be able to isolate it. Muscles work in a system, where prime movers and synergists experience a lot of mechanical tension and work when needed.

Want to grow your lats or your back in general? Start with 2 exercises (vertical + horizontal pulling movements) and get incredibly strong at these. You’ll thank me later.
