Time Under Tension (TUT) and Hypertrophy⭕️
A lot of time you hear me talk about “slow reps” and hypertrophy, but there’s a fundamental difference between reps that are slow because controlled, and reps that are slow because they can’t move any faster.
There’s a lot of misconception among Time Under Tension and its relationship with Hypertrophy.
Mainly because most people think that slowing reps down and increasing the duration of the muscular contraction can create greater hypertrophy. And while there’s some truth to this statement, it’s still slightly incorrect.
Why ? Because TUT matters, but only/mostly for the volume that counts as “effective”.
In this post, I try explaining this topic, according to the most relevant and current research.
