The body fat set point: why is it so hard to maintain results ?⭕️⁣

Losing body fat is hard. ⁣

Maintaining the achieved result is even harder! ⁣

For some reason, most dieters fail to remain at the new achieved body weight and the reasons can be many. One of them, is known as the body fat set point, which is our “biological system” that regulates our metabolic expenditure depending on our current levels of body fat and food intake. ⁣

Leptin, along side with a lot of other hormones, is responsible for regulating the complex array of regulatory processes that contribute to set-point maintenance. ⁣

In this post, I discuss how the idea first was discovered, how the mechanism works, and when it (likely) develops! ⁣

Huge thanks to the recently published paper by Kelsey, L.Rose et al. 2021, (referenced down below) from which the information that inspired this post was extrapolated. ⁣
