What are the activity cheat-codes that we can use to maximize our health?
It’s actually pretty simple…
In the quest for longevity, people like to look into all sorts of “bio-hacks”, supplements, and who knows what else… forgetting about the simple, yet extremely relevant and profound effects that a couple sessions of physical activity per week have on our health.
Resistance training is in fact an incredibly powerful tool, slashing🗡️ all-cause mortality risks by 27% with just an hour of training a week, while moderate physical activity for 5-10 hours weekly (which most lifters will do) can cut this risk by an impressive 36-42%.
Want more? Well, add more cardio on top of it: it does not have to be hard!
Simply walking, when performed regularly, demonstrates a progressive decline in mortality risk, with a suggested guideline of approximately 6-10k steps for a couple of days a week. The lower end (6-8k) can be recommended for older adults aged 60 and above, and higher ones (8-10k) four the youngsters. 8k seems to be the sweet spot for most!
In a nutshell, these findings keep adding to the fact that physical activity… is medicine: a mix of resistance and aerobic activities into one’s routine can be a game-changer🕹️ for health and longevity!
