Protein & Fat Loss

We know that an elevated protein intake helps with building muscle. But having a protein-rich diet also has benefits for fat loss. First of all, research shows protein is quite satiating [1]. Eating protein-rich foods can help you feel more satisfied while eating the same calories, making it easier to sustain a calorie deficit.

Also, protein has a higher thermic effect of food. For every 100 calories of protein you consume, 20-30 calorie calories are burned for digestion [2]. This is higher than the thermic effect of carbohydrates and fats. So eating a high-protein diet actually helps increase your calorie deficit for more fat loss.
