When it comes to post-workout nutrition, many professionals like to emphasize carbohydrate intake. While consuming carbs after your workout can certainly be helpful, especially if you workout multiple times a day, there IS a catch to this method.

💥 If you workout fasted, I would definitely recommend emphasizing protein intake over carbs. As this study shows, consuming just carbs after a workout still results in a negative protein balance. You can’t grow if you’re not in a positive protein balance, and the only way to get there is through protein intake.

💥 Therefore, if you train fasted, get your protein source in ASAP. You can consume protein and carbs at the same time if it’s convenient for you, but I would definitely recommend aiming for protein intake first if you have to pick one or the other.
