Did you return from vacation and have you lost some muscle? No worries! Because of “Muscle Memory”, your body has the capacity to regain lost muscle at a faster pace [1].

Research has found that our muscle fibers have an epigenetic memory [2]. This means that at the DNA level, your muscles possess a memory of how they grew in the past. So when you get back into training after a small break, your muscles are primed to grow back fast.

But remember, muscle loss does not even happen quickly in the first place. Research shows it takes 2-3 weeks of no training to start seeing muscle loss [3].

In the case that you did take a training break of over 3 weeks, just get back into training, and muscle memory will help you get your gains back!
