NECK PAIN: STRETCH VARIATIONS
Sitting with a forward head posture for an extended period of time can cause restrictions in the neck muscles. Take a break from your computer desk to try out these three stretches.
Sit on the ipsilateral hand to depress the shoulder to maximize the stretch. Gently pull with the opposite hand for additional stretch.
Levator Scapulae β Contralateral side bend, contralateral rotation and flexion (chin tuck, nose to armpit)
Scalanes β Contralateral side bend (ear to shoulder)
Upper Trap β Contralateral side bend, ipsilateral rotation, and flexion (chin tuck, ear to arm pit)
