Wanting better balance? You should be doing single leg isometric exercises.
Using isometric exercises to improve an individual’s balance should be considered, particularly during rehabilitation and early stage phases of training.
Having an individual execute any variation of single leg isometric drills gives them an opportunity to understand weight distribution, range of motion limitations and strength required in specific positions. The improved neural awareness carries over to your more dynamic strength and power movements that are required for an effective return to play/life.
Keep things simple and get the basics right!
To do single-leg balance: Start by standing in a comfortable position. Bend one leg to lift your foot off the floor by bringing your heel up toward your butt. Grab your foot or ankle with your hand as you reach out with your other arm to help with your balance. Focus on your balance and your breath as you hold this position.
