Glandular tissue has been used for hundreds of years and here in the US since the 1920s. Upjohn pharma used to produce adrenal glandular tissue until the 1950s and even today Armour thyroid(porcine thyroid gland tissue) is prescribed for hypothyroidism. It was during WWII that chemists began synthesizing hormones that would replace glandular tissue as treatment. Bovine adrenal glandular tissue(BAGT) is exactly what it sounds like- adrenal gland tissue extracted from a cow. In today’s fast-paced, high stimulant-consuming, social media stimuli world, people’s adrenal glands, which respond to stress can be fatigued. BAGT is a way to help the body produce the stress hormones it may have problems doing from overstimulation. BAGT contains the enzyme steroid 17,20 lyase, which is responsible for converting mineralcorticoids into glucocorticoids(like cortisol) and then into steroid hormones, as well as detoxifying from them. When your body is stressed, it releases cortisol to help reduce the stress. BAGT may help with endogenous production of stress hormones and help with proper function. BAGT also contains a myriad of polypeptides that are tissue-specific and elicit different physiological responses. These polypeptides can help the assimilation of vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, enzymes, cofactors and more. Glandular tissue is theorized to have a “tissue-sparing” effect, meaning it can make up the slack when an organ is overworked via hormone production. BAGT may help your adrenal glands perform optimally if they are overworked. German isotopic studies in the 60/70s showed radioactively-labeled glandular tissue was absorbed in its corresponding human tissues. Even porcine pancreas tissue was shown to help delay onset of Type-1 diabetes in rats bred to be T1D. I am currently taking 3 350mg caps of BAGT to see if it helps with my adrenal gland output.
