We are about to go on a DEEP DIVE on cancer and biochemistry. Take an long breath and letssss go! This a schematic representation of the signaling pathways of cannabinoids(including endocannabinoids) have down-stream effects. CBD is top left in red, blue in right. THC in green and purple. As you can see, there are a lot of effects on things like stomping cell migration, angiogenesis and apoptosis in cancer cells(dotted lines are inhibition, solid lines are stimulation). From initially binding, there is an entire cascade of events that ultimately leads to a systemic response. One example is CBD inhibiting cancer cell viability and proliferation. Your endocannabinoid receptors are everywhere and participate in a lot of “cross talk” between other major systems like circulatory, cardiovascular, and even gut and immune system. THC even TRPV2, which changes the flow of Ca ions which further down stream shows its effect on inflammation, not to mention sleep and pain(ion gated receptors that control things Ca ions often have dramatic effects on the body. When my sister was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer, CBD/THC combinations were the first thing I put her on bc of this very process. CBD/THC through down-stream effects can inhibit EGF, NF-kB, ERK and angiogenesis. I guess my point to these posts is that just bc you take a supplement for 1 effect, doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a multitude of positive effects on your body that you’re unaware of.
