using unilateral exercises – core activation.

💥 You see, our core muscles are tasked with stabilizing the spine and pelvis, especially during dynamic movement. When we perform a unilateral exercise, like a lunge for instance, this imposes an imbalanced environment for our spine and pelvis. In turn, we need to have extra oblique activation to stabilize our torso and optimize performance.

💥 This is one reason why many practitioners feel that unilateral exercises are more functional, but they’re also a good bet for a “2 birds with 1 stone” exercise. If you’re short on time and want to get some core training in during your leg workout, unilateral exercises are one way to do that!
