Let’s discuss balanced triceps training by using different elbow angles in your triceps exercises. For each triceps exercise, I also show you a home alternative, so swipe left and let’s dive straight into it!
–
The first exercise is a regular triceps pushdown with your arms at your side. Since the long head of the triceps also extends your shoulder, you are able to focus on the inner part (long head) of the triceps by moving your arms slightly behind your body as you do the pushdown. If you have bands at home, you can also do this pushdown variation with resistance bands.

Next up, we train the triceps with you arms at a 90 degree angle. This can be done via skullcrushers with dumbbells, but also with your own bodyweight. Both variations are challenging, you can pick which exercise to use based on the equipment you have available.

Lastly, we have overhead triceps extensions. This trains your triceps when they are in a stretched position. So it provides a slightly different stimulus to your triceps compared to traditional pushdowns. As you see in the video, you can also do overhead extensions using your bodyweight and a couch.
