ARTHRITIS & EXERCISE
.
There’s a lot of misunderstanding and fear about exercising with arthritis not only from those with it but also from many healthcare professionals.
.
Many doctors and therapists advise and advocate rest and avoidance for those with arthritis when in fact this could cause more pain and disability.
.
Although more research is needed, there is a growing body of evidenced that shows exercise can significantly improve pain and disability in those with arthritis due to many factors.
.
Not only does exercise increase muscle strength, reduce inflammation, help with weight loss, and enhance positive psychological factors!
.
Exercise can also stimulate stalled or reduced regenerative processes and help improve joint cartilage composition.
.
So its time to forget ‘wear and tear’ and start to promote ‘wear and repair.
